Friday was dyeing day so the morning was spent walking around the land collecting the leaves and flowers to use. In the afternoon the leaves and flowers were laid out onto the silk to be used for scarves and for the jackets to be felted the following day, then the dyeing process was started. We ended up setting up in the barn where it was much much cooler than the greenhouse. It was amazed at the fine detail and colours which could be achieved from the dyeing process
Saturday was felting day. The dyed silk panels were sewed together, laid out on the tables and then the wool applied guidance so that the colours would complement each other and leaf prints could show through. The laying out process needed to be done in the greenhouse with the doors closed to stop the fine wool from blowing away. The results of all the hard work were some truly wonderful jackets.
Gloves and felted flowers were on the menu for Sunday luckily it was cooler and it even rained.
